Held under the theme “One Island. Many Lenses,” the Sri Lanka Wildlife Festival 2026 brought the vibrant natural heritage of the island to the heart of the United Kingdom. Running from 14 to 16 July 2026, the event was jointly organised by the Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau and the High Commission of Sri Lanka in the United Kingdom. It commenced with a striking photographic exhibition featuring nearly 100 stunning images capturing Sri Lanka’s diverse fauna, flora, and hidden wilderness at the High Commission premises in London.
The festival culminated in a dynamic wildlife forum on 16 July, drawing over 100 conservationists, travel trade professionals, and wildlife enthusiasts for expert-led panel discussions. Crucially, the London festival complemented Sri Lanka’s broader push into specialized eco-tourism, closely aligning with the country’s active presence at the Global Birdfair 2026 held in Rutland. By highlighting avian diversity and rich endemic birdlife, the promotion emphasized Sri Lanka as a premier, sustainable destination for birdwatching. Together, these concurrent UK showcases successfully elevated the island’s reputation, reinforcing its standing as a world-class sanctuary for nature lovers and international birding travelers seeking authentic conservation-backed experiences. Birdwatching Sri Lanka was once again part of this valuable and important event, championing bird watching tourism to Sri Lanka.
